Point to point is a form of communication that provides a direct path from one fixed point to another.

A point to point connection is one of the most common types of wan connection. In a typical configuration a router on the network is connected using a serial transmission interface such as v 35 to a channel service. From this central location all the video streams are transmitted over an outdoor point to point wireless link to the control room. Above figure illustrates that two computers need only one connection three computers need three connections and four computers need six connections.

A hub provides a point to multipoint or simply multipoint circuit in which all connected client nodes share the network bandwidth.
